How does the treatment work?

Vascular lesions are treated using BBL™ BroadBand Light technology. The light energy is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the vessel. This causes the vessel to coagulate. As individual vessels are treated, they may disappear, darken, or lighten. They may also appear unchanged. Eventually, they fade away over time.

What can I expect during the treatment?

Each treatment takes only a few minutes. Your skin will be thoroughly cleaned. Your technician will assess the vessels. With each pulse of light, you may feel a slight snap against the skin. After the treatment, redness and mild swelling are expected. You will feel a warm or tingling sensation. These effects are temporary. Cool compresses are helpful. In rare cases, a small bruise may develop where the vessel was treated.

Is there downtime after laser vein removal?

Laser vein removal is considered a no-downtime treatment. You may apply makeup and resume normal activities after the treatment. However, we recommend avoiding hot tubs, saunas, or hot yoga for the rest of the day.

How many treatments will I need?

You may need one or more treatments. This depends on how the vessels respond. Some vessels disappear immediately. Others may need an additional treatment.

How well does it work?

Once vessels fade away, they will not return. However, new vessels may form over time. This is especially true if you are prone to them. Long-term results are possible. You must be diligent in protecting your skin. You must also minimize inflammation. This includes daily use of a chemical-free sunscreen with at least SPF 30. It also includes controlling triggers that contribute to skin redness.
