Morpheus8 Treatment

Tired of lacklustre skin or concerned about the early signs of aging? Get gorgeous, younger-looking skin that glows from deep within with Morpheus8!

What Is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 is a cutting-edge subdermal adipose remodelling device (SARD). It’s a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that is a combination of microneedling technology and radiofrequency energy to remodel the inner layers of the skin.

A trending topic in leading beauty news outlets, Morpheus8 can produce incredible results in the hands of an expert. A capable professional is able to properly target the skin’s building blocks with micro-injuries and RF waves, triggering the body’s natural healing, remodelling, and anti-aging processes.

Though the Morpheus8 procedure is able to treat the innermost layers of the skin, this amazing procedure is only minimally invasive with skin tightening, resurfacing, and anti-aging results that are truly dramatic. Morpheus8 doesn’t come with the risk of having post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation; it doesn’t make treated areas darker than the rest of your skin.

Morpheus8 is an ideal cosmetic treatment for anyone who is beginning to see the onset of fine lines and wrinkles, concerned about skin laxity, and who would like to take a preventive approach towards aging but prefer subtle results and a less aggressive method compared to Botox or plastic surgery.

If you’re considering getting Morpheus8, Oakville is the place to be. Read on to learn more information about the Morpheus8 treatment we offer here at APT Medical Aesthetics, a premier medical spa in the heart of Oakville.

Treatment Areas

Each person’s aesthetic goals are unique. This is why a sophisticated procedure like Morpheus8 is designed to be versatile. Channelling the benefits of microneedling and RF energy, Morpheus8 delivers deep and full-body subdermal adipose remodelling. It enhances skin laxity, contours, and rejuvenates the skin and address a wide variety of aesthetic concerns, such as:

  • Wrinkles
  • Sagging or loose skin
  • Acne scarring or rough skin
  • Discoloration
  • Stretchmarks

Morpheus8 treatments is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that is suitable for all skin tones (even on patients with darker skin) and skin types, and can be performed on different areas in the face and body, such as jawline, neck, abdomen, buttocks, and arms.

It delivers the deepest fractional treatments possible, penetrating subdermal tissue up to 8mm (7mm + 1mm thermal profile) with a compact device that conveniently facilitates full face and body treatment.  One look at Morpheus before and after photos of our patients will convince you of its astounding aesthetic benefits.

How to Prepare

It is best to refrain from your retinol-based skin care creams for one week before your scheduled procedure.

Essentially, Morpheus8 treatment works best in combination with a healthy body’s natural skin healing processes. Take the extra step of keeping yourself healthy and well-hydrated before and after your Morpheus8 procedure for best results. Unhealthy habits, such as drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes will absolutely be counterproductive.

As mentioned, Morpheus8 is deemed safe for the majority of patients with all skin tones and skin types. However, some patients may be prescribed an extra step in preparation for it or may be totally cautioned against pushing through with their procedure, which will be determined and discussed by your aesthetician during the initial consultation.

Who’s not a good candidate for Morpheus8? This may not be an ideal treatment option if you have any of the following:

  • Rosacea
  • Active acne and other inflammatory conditions
  • Open wounds or lesions (e.g. from herpes simplex)
  • Metal allergies
  • Skin that is still healing from dermabrasion, deep peels, or surgical procedures from the last three months
  • Sunburned skin or excess tanning from the last two weeks

How Does Morpheus8 Work?

Generally, the Morpheus8 is hassle-free as can be. Here in our Oakville clinic, a Morpheus8 therapy session typically takes less than 30 minutes, depending on the extent of the size of the treatment area. It’s a quick in-office procedure that causes very minimal discomfort.

You will be required to come in for your appointment at least an hour prior to your treatment time. Our clinical staff will prep and cleanse the treatment site. Patients are usually given topical numbing cream to make their Morpheus8 treatment much more comfortable.

The Morpheus8 device will be passed two to three times on the treated area and will work on the subdermal level of the skin. It can achieve one of the deepest fractional treatments and subdermal adipose remodeling by synergizing the benefits of two known technologies in the realm of skincare: microneedling and radiofrequency. In the past, these two have been used separately to deliver their own set of benefits. Morpheus8 gives you the best of both worlds.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive, non-surgical cosmetic procedure that works by creating slight, controlled injuries to the skin, triggering it to make new collagen-rich tissue and resulting in new skin tissue that is more even in texture and tone. Meanwhile, radiofrequency procedures are very similar to ultrasound therapy in the sense that they both make use of heat energy to stimulate elastin and collagen production in the body. RF energy can also be used to target specific adipose tissue (fat cells) to induce fat remodelling.

Morpheus8 procedure borrows this fantastic aspect of microneedling technology and RF energy. Morpheus8 treatment uses microneedles, not just to make controlled micro-injuries, but also to administer RF waves into the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating the body’s natural healing response and the collagen production. This remodels the skin and gives it a firm and even appearance.

The remodelling benefits of RF waves on selectively target adipose tissue or fat on the face and body and can also be utilized in Morpheus8 procedures for certain areas where the subcutaneous fat of the skin causes sagging (e.g. jowls, back of the arms, bra bulges). What’s important to note here though, is that the RF wave-induced remodelling is controlled so there’s no need to worry about thermal damage or accidental volume loss on the face.

What Are The Results You Can Expect From Morpheus8?

In the hands of a skilled aesthetic professional, the Morpheus8 treatment process is highly controlled and deliberate, accurately targeting and addressing specific problem areas. Morpheus8 before and after photos can speak for the impressive results it’s capable of.

Here are some benefits you can expect to achieve with Morpheus8:

  • Reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles
  • Tighten loose skin
  • Smoothen out a rough skin texture
  • Improve the appearance of acne scarring
  • Correct uneven skin tone
  • Treat loose, crepey skin on the knees, arms, elbows, and abdominal area
  • Define the contours in the face and body in a non-surgical way
  • Further enhancements due to continuous collagen and elastin production

Visible results can be seen within a few days of the first treatment. But as with all procedures, there is a waiting time before you can see the full results. For the Morpheus8 procedure, the three-week mark will show you far more noticeable results but improvements can continue up to three months post-treatment.

So, how many treatments does it take? In most cases, it takes at least two to three Morpheus8 treatment sessions to see desired results. For mild cosmetic concerns, one treatment may be enough. However, if your doctor recommended multiple Morpheus8 procedures, they are spaced around four to five weeks apart.

Morpheus8 Aftercare and Recovery

Because Morpheus8 is only minimally invasive, there is no real downtime when you undergo this procedure. However, depending on the extent of your treatment, you may be advised not to wash or even touch the treated area for at least 12 hours to avoid the possibility of infection. Your doctor will provide you with post-treatment care tips before you are sent home.

Morpheus8 is an easy and manageable cosmetic procedure. The majority of our patients usually resume their regular activities almost immediately after treatment. Although relatively rare, some patients may experience minor side effects, such as skin redness, itchiness, and a bit of swelling. If this happens, it’s only normal and there’s no need to worry.  They may last a few days at most and will clear up on their own without needing further medication.

Targeted skin care can definitely boost the results of your Morpheus8 treatment even further, especially during the first 72 hours post-treatment when channels are still healing on the skin surface. Morpheus8 stimulates these channels, making medical-grade skincare products penetrate deeper into the skin.

Skin care products containing growth factors, peptides, vitamin C, retinol, and hyaluronic acid can help preserve and take the benefits of Morpheus8 to the next level and might be recommended by your skin care doctor. However, if you’re buying products by yourself, make sure to consult with your skin care professional before using any of such products post-treatment.

Additionally, you will need to avoid direct sunlight for a few weeks after your Morpheus8 treatment. If you are heading out, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen that is at least SPF 30 or higher. Reapply sunscreen on the skin, focusing on the treated area, after a couple of hours or more frequently if you are swimming or sweating excessively. This will help to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The best and most gentle option for healing skin is a sunscreen containing titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. To get the best brand and SPF level for your specific case, consult with your doctor.

Potential Complications from Morpheus8 Treatment?

Although generally safe, Morpheus8 procedure may have minimal side effects in its initial healing stages and rare complications including:

  • Temporary redness, swelling, and bruising that looks like a sunburn
  • Temporary flaking as the tiny puncture wounds from the microneedles
  • Allergic reaction to the anesthetic agent
  • Infection (if not cared for properly)
  • Sunburn and hyperpigmentation (when not protected from sun exposure post-treatment)
